To provide 2nd line support for specified data warehousing systems, ensuring that the level of service provided meets agreed service level agreements. Ensure that all reported problems are rectified within pre-determined time scales. This may require liaison with other specialist support groups such as UNIX Administrators and Database Administrators and Development groups.To take ownership of issues that arise on a day to day basis, ensuring that a prompt resolution is sought whilst minimising the impact to the business by introducing work-arounds or short-term fixes.Investigate failures and delays to the batch schedules.Recommend operational changes that can be made to improve the efficiency and manageability of the supported systems.Be sufficiently knowledgeable of communication, database, application and operating system functions to be able to understand how the system operates and identify problem causes.Essential Skills:2 years minimum experience in a support function using Oracle 8i,1 years experience of UNIX * Oracle 8i in a support environment.2 years experience of shell scripting Solaries * KORN shell scripting (basic).1 year Data Warehouse experience.Incident management, problem solving and data manipulation skills.Good communication skills (verbal and written).To be able to deliver according to time scales.2 years experience of IT Industry * Academic.Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
